Stories, St. Nicholas and Song
In this week's episode we have a great interview with Fr. Brian Cavanaugh, TOR about the importance of story in our lives and in the spread of the Gospel. Fr. Brian has published several books with the stories he has collected called The Sower Seeds and a book on the Miracle of the Poinsettia. He runs a website that also includes stories and words of inspiration called Apple Seeds. Check them out!
Fr. Brian also mentioned a book by Fr. William Bausch called "Storytelling: Imagination and Faith" which can be purchased at Amazon.com.
The other books that Fr. Brian mentions - Chicken Soup for the Soul, Book of Virtues, The Moral Compass.
Russell W. Conwell's "Acres of Diamonds" can be found at the Temple University site.
Fr. Brian mentioned the National Storytelling Network.
We will also hear about the interesting tradition of the Companions of Saint Nicholas, especially the Krampus who ensures that children behave themselves during the Advent season. For more information about the Krampus check out the Wikipedia article or this other site on Santa's companions.
Music for this week's episode comes from Podsafe Music. Our song is "In The Bleak Midwinter" sung by Allison Crowe.
